Auction of Custom 2014 Ford Mustang GT Nets $398,000 For Youth Aviation Program

Ford has a long history of aviation-inspired names in its model lineup, from the Thunderbird to the Falcon, and the Mustang. To help support the Experimental Aircraft Association?s Young Eagles program, Ford offered a one-of-a-kind customized 2014 Mustang GT with VIN 0001 to support the organization?s efforts in youth aviation educational efforts. The car auctioned for $398,000 at the EAA AirVenture show to raise money for the program.

The car features a custom-painted exterior featuring red and black accent painting inspired by the Air Force Thunderbirds? F-16 Falcon planes, widebody front and rear fenders, a custom-painted belly pan, and Forgiato 22-inch wheels. On the inside, the car gets Recaro seats embroidered with Thunderbirds design elements, custom door sill plates, and puddle lamps that project an aircraft silhouette when the doors open. Adding to the driving excitement is a Ford Racing supercharger, a suspension handling pack, and Brembo high-performance brakes.

The car is VIN 0001 of the 2014 Mustang GTs, and is one of several Mustangs auctioned for the benefit of the Young Eagles program. In 2008, a special-edition Mustang AV8R sold for $500,000. Altogether, proceeds from Ford vehicles have raised more than $2.5 million to support the Young Eagles program.
